Traditional Foods
In the modern Islam culture, Muslims believe that the body and soul have a mutual relationship. As a result, diets are common because they believe if Muslims take care of their bodies, they believe their mind will be well. Many Muslims do not drink alcohol, even cooked into foods, for that same reason. They do not eat any pork, or and pig at all, which is similar to some of the Kosher concepts that Jews follow. If you eat meat the animal MUST be slaughtered while it's still alive, for humane reasons. Some common foods are: Mahashi- zuchini stuffed with flavored rice, Amar al Deen - apricots soaked in water to create a flavored water, couscous - a rice like grain, and masgout - baked fish (as shown below.)
